The CCENT is the ideal place to start your Cisco certification journey. The CCENT certification is a great introduction to Cisco products. It also serves as a prerequisite for several Associate-level certifications. This makes it a smart choice for certification. The CCENT certification is typically used to qualify learners for roles such as network technician, systems administrator, or network administrator.
Cisco Certified Entry-level Network Technician
Cisco Certified Entry-level Network Technician certification (CCENT), is designed to validate entry-level support skills. The CCENT certifies that learners have the knowledge, skills, and ability to install, operate, troubleshoot, and troubleshoot small enterprise branch networks, including basic network security.

Cisco CCENT/CCNA ICND1 100-105

The Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) covers topics such as the operation of IP data network, LAN switching technologies and IPv6 routing technologies, IP services (DHCP/NAT, ACLs), device security, basic troubleshooting, and basic troubleshooting.
CCENT learners should typically have at least six months of experience in IT and some familiarity using Cisco products. The CCENT consists of one exam. Details are below.

Recertification
Cisco’s Entry-level certifications including CCENT are valid for three year from the date of certification. Recertifying learners can be done by passing the current ICND1 exam, or any Associate-level exam. Learners can also recertify by passing the Cisco 642-XXX, 300-XXX, or CCDE practical exams, as well as the CCAr interview, and the CCAr board review.
The Next Step
The CCENT is a prerequisite to several Cisco Associate-level certifications. This makes it an excellent building block that allows learners to earn a variety more advanced certifications from Cisco. The CCENT is a prerequisite for many Cisco Associate-level certifications.
